Implementation Methodology
AVC has a proven methodology for delivering successful technology solutions for our customers. This is based on Dynamics NAV's implementation methodology, which is adhered to by Dynamics NAV's most competent partners. Our ability to map our process to client needs ensures that we not only provide superior implementations, but also enable swift knowledge transfer to client staff members.
Analysis
In the Analysis Phase of the project we complete a review of client business processes and system requirements. The key deliverable of this phase is typically a Functional Requirements Document (FRD). The client will be asked to review and sign-off on this document prior to moving forward in the project. Key events in the Analysis Phase are:
- Project preparation and planning
- Installation of Navision Software at client site
- Key User Training
- Collection of all master and transactional data files
- Conduct requirement gathering interviews and workshops
- Prepare and review of functional requirements
- Gap Analysis documentation produced (where required)
- Outline of developmental/customisation areas defined
With respect to the above being an essential element of a successful implementation, the final timeline and implementation project plan would be completed after the full definition of scope has been agreed by all parties.
Design
Dynamics NAV offers the client the ability to choose a leading ERP software package that is readily adaptable to its specific requirements. AVC have already catered for many additional areas to support distribution and service based companies with Attain-Plus.
The embedded design tools within Dynamics NAV allow rapid development to meet evolving needs of the organisation and our detailed knowledge of business requirements allow quick analysis and design of appropriate solutions.
Development & Testing
Development procedures start with the functional requirement created during the analysis period, resulting in a full development specification including:
- Overview of requirement
- Flow Chart process flow diagrams
- Proposed Solution
- Functional Specification
- Low Level Specification
- Development Project Implementation
Our team of developers are all Dynamics NAV Solution Developers and Dynamics NAV Certified Representatives. As a company we adhere to the Dynamics NAV GUI development guidelines and operate best practise development methodologies to ensure rapid delivery of developments to specification. We rigorously test developments at all stages of the cycle for coding, functional delivery and user operability. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions concerning customisations to the system. Software acceptance is by mutual consent and will be covered by a sign off document for each area.
Deployment & Data Conversion
In the Deployment Phase the system is fully implemented at the client site. It is recommended that a central site be utilised with the establishment of a Project Room that is installed with sufficient PCs for the scope of the project. These will be running from the test system on the installed server and will allow interaction with the delivered and newly developed functionality.
Before and after deployment a series of Workshops sessions between the Application specialists and the Key Users of the system are scheduled to confirm and sign off all functionality delivered, including developed modules.
Training Programme
Only once sign off has been has been agreed between both parties concerning the functional fit of the system delivered, will End User training be undertaken followed by the rollout to desktops.
Training will take place either directly on site providing the client has capacity or at a training centre at mutual convenience; we have access to several training centres around the UK for conducting our training programmes.
The Training will be dependant on the number of users for each operational area. All users will receive overview training for the system for ease of navigation through menus, global system shortcut keys, simple data entry, running of reports etc.
Following the overview training, the users will then receive advanced training in their operational areas that is based on the Business Process documentation that defines how each operational area will use the system. This documentation forms the bedrock of the training manual that will be prepared to assist the end users in the initial use of the system and on going through any additional functional changes as they occur.

On Going Support
Once your system is deployed AVC will be available to ensure that your business objectives are achieved, implemented features and functions are understood, and users are properly trained. AVC first line of support is our experienced telephone support team.
We recommend that Key Users are identified within the client site who build up a working knowledge of the full interaction of the operational areas. These key users will become the first point of reference for any local user issues and queries and act as a central contact point to our support team, making the transfer of information easier and smoother between both parties.
Likewise, key individuals from the AVC support staff will be specially trained internally on any customer specific operations, its system setup and any customisations that are in place. This will facilitate rapid response to specific queries.
In our experience, many new ideas occur once clients become familiar with the system and its flexibility. Throughout the On-Going Support phase we will be evaluating opportunities for optimising and adding to the system already in place to ensure that Dynamics NAV continues to be the optimal solution for the client. |
